Digital Marketing News Roundup – March 18, 2022

Digital Roundup - A collection of images.A lot is going on in the world, but we are still keeping tabs on happenings around digital marketing. Here are some items that caught our attention during the week of March 14, 2022 …

There were 2 WordPress vulnerabilities announced this week. The WordPress security team discovered both. One was a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack, while the other was a flaw in how WordPress handled certain JavaScript files. Neither exploit would be easy to execute, but we recommend updating your WordPress installation to 5.9.2 regardless.

There was little surprise in an announcement by Google that they will be sunsetting Google Universal Analytics and will only support Google Analytics 4 beginning July 1, 2023. Google will turn off Universal Analytics sometime around April 2024 and will not migrate the old data, so having more than a year’s worth of data in GA4 will make the transition much more manageable. We at WrightIMC have long recommended implementing GA4 tagging to run parallel with Universal analytics as we anticipated this announcement would, eventually, come. If you haven’t turned GA4 tagging on yet, do it now.
