Search Engine Journal released “The State of SEO 2021” report this past week. There is some very interesting information in there, with data derived from survey results of over 2,800 SEO professionals from around the world. Whether you’re actually doing SEO or are just interested in what others are up to in the space, you will want to check it out.

Speaking of SEJ, WrightIMC’s CEO, Tony Wright, shared some insights about big brands getting a lot of benefits in Google search results because of their ability to attack lots of high-quality links to their content. In the article, Tony shares why this happens as well as some tips on what smaller brands can do to compete against bigger brands.

Last up for this week is an interesting comment by Google’s John Mueller that was caught by Barry Schwartz over at Search Engine Roundtable. John tweeted, “Website quality is not something you can fix with technical changes.” Anyone who has been doing SEO for more than a few minutes knows that fixing technical issues on a website is a foundational best practice.
